Application & Operation

Permanent magnetic separator rolls are proven, powerful, continuously operating separation systems.

Application areas

Intended for automatic separation of ferromagnetic parts from fine-grained or dusty materials.

Suitable materials:

Grain
Plastic granules
Wood chips
Blasting sand for blasting equipment
Fine-grained materials
Dusty substances

Protection functions:

Machine protectionPrevention of operational disruptionsRecovery of steel gritProduct quality assurance

Construction & Design

Main components:

Fixed magnetic special system inside
Shaft journal with locking bearing
Rotating roll shell
Gear motor for drive
Adjustable discharge point

The fixed permanent magnetic special system, whose force field penetrates the roll shell, catches the magnetizable iron parts to be separated above the roll shell.

Operation & Advantages

Process flow:

1
Material is evenly fed to the separator roll through conveying equipment
2
Fe particles are separated from the mixture by the magnetic roll
3
Magnetically detectable particles are attracted to the rotating roll shell
4
Transport of Fe parts to the set discharge point
5
Fe parts fall into the null zone into the designated container
6
Separated materials are discharged through separate chutes

Advantages:

Practically without power loss
Reliable and safe operation
Low space requirement
No special operating costs

Technical Specifications

Technical details

Roll diameter

We typically manufacture our separator rolls in diameters of 219, 324 and 508 mm. The lengths depend on the respective application case.

Magnetic zone

The magnetic zone extends over approximately 200 degrees. The remaining part is the magnetic null zone for discharging the separated parts.

Adjustment options

By rotating the shaft journal, the magnetic system inside the separator roll can be swiveled to set the desired discharge point.

Individual adaptation: All separator rolls are tailored directly to your needs and you receive a sketch/drawing with your requirements inquiry.

Safety & Special Considerations

Important safety notes and operating tips for the safe use of our separator rolls.

Safety measures

When operating the separator roll with dusty or dust-generating media, the operator must take appropriate measures to prevent dust explosions.

Safety requirements:

Spark formation through static charging possible
Induction can cause spark formation
Metal parts colliding cannot be ruled out
Appropriate explosion protection measures required

Important notes

Explosion hazard

Spark formation in the area of the separator roll through static charging, induction or through metal parts colliding cannot be completely ruled out.

EX zone

The machine is not suitable for operation in EX zones.

Operating tips

Optimal operation

Material distribution

The more loosely the medium is fed to the separator roll, the better the two fractions can be separated from each other.

Particle ratio

For encapsulated or bonded particles, the ratio of Fe mass to total mass has a great influence on whether the entire part is separated or remains.

Downstream conveying equipment

Care must be taken to ensure that no backflow into the separator roll occurs through downstream conveying equipment.
